Dan Rowan was the straight man on the famous Rowan and Martin comedy team. He was born Daniel Hale David in Beggs, Oklahoma, on July 2, 1922. He danced and sang in a carnival with his parents until he was orphaned at the age of eleven. He frequently ran away from a Colorado orphanage until he was eventually allowed to leave, officially.
